Leaving a Legacy for the Animals

Have you ever considered leaving a legacy for the animals? Choosing to include Possum Valley Animal Sanctuary in your will can create lasting change for rescued native and farm animals for many years to come.

Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will help save lives.

Making a bequest is an important decision and we would be happy to talk with you about any questions you may have in regards to leaving a legacy for the animals at Possum Valley.

Speaking to your solicitor or legal advisor when preparing your will is important to ensure your decisions comply with all the necessary legal requirements and we can assist with providing details as needed.

As a registered charity, we are reliant on the generosity of the public to continue our rescue mission across Western Australia.

Each day, the volunteer team work tirelessly to care for over 300 residents. Many of these have arrived at the Sanctuary when their owners have gone in to care or sadly passed away.

In addition to directly caring for animals, Possum Valley volunteers are on the ground working to rehome animals in need, provide veterinary assistance, supporting local pounds and neighbouring rescue organisations, and educating the community through running Sanctuary tours and animal welfare events.

If you would like to learn more about the work your bequest may support, please contact us at info@possumvalley.org or call us on 040 890 4125.

Vale Valentine

Two and a half years ago, team PVAS were involved in an incredible rescue, helping carry a stressed, unshorn, frightened wether from the depths of a muddy dam to safety. Valentine, as he was soon named, underwent a radical transformation, finding newfound freedom (minus his years of fleece), and meeting a flock family with which he could settle after a lifetime on the run.

Val was a shy, independent old man, always wary, but growing more relaxed during his time in the Valley. From his ear tag we estimated Valentine to be twelve years of age. His spritely trot and appetite gave no clue that on a sunny Tuesday, his favourite napping spot would be where he found his sheep wings.

While our hearts are heavy at the loss of the amazingly resilient Val, we are glad he passed peacefully surrounded by his flock. He knew safety, friends and Weet-bix, and although his Sanctuary time was all too short, we’re glad his final chapter was comfortable for the sweet old man. Vale big Val, you will always live on in our hearts.
