On Saturday the 8th of December we held our
inaugural ‘Carols in the Valley’ event. A festive fundraiser for all
ages, ‘Carols in the Valley’ was an evening of Christmas fun, raising money for
animal food over the summer months.
Held in the paddock lands, our event guests enjoyed a picnic at
dusk, patting Spud the donkey, purchasing a cruelty free sausage sizzle and ice
cream and gathering treats from the Sanctuary bake sale. Gingerbread sheep were a definite favourite, as were the freshly baked cupcakes and chocolate
crackles. A huge hamper was raffled and guests could purchase gifts
at the merchandise stall, with all funds helping our rescued animal friends.
Our volunteer carollers took to the stage at sundown and
together with the support of the singing crowd, festive tunes filled the Valley
of Hope. The Litchfield family did an incredible job providing the sound
system and Christmas lighting for the night, setting a beautiful scene for all
to enjoy. Even the sheep, goats and cows stopped to watch the performance. They were
curious and excited by the lights and music nearby, joining in with baas and
moos – not always on cue.
Thank you to all who attended, volunteered and donated to an
incredibly fun night for the animals – we are hoping you all had a very merry
and safe Christmas!
