PVAS Flocktoberfest

By Chris R

Angel Goat & Annie Lamb check out the spinning wheel

On the 22nd of October, Possum Valley held Flocktoberfest at Baskerville Hall.  This event was organised to raise funds for the Sanctuary’s sheep residents and was a great success.

Patrons enjoyed gourmet beers while listening to the band

Guests enjoyed traditional European music thanks to Tout Droit and The Last Five Coins, while feasting on cruelty free loaded dogs, German ‘Pearl Platters', Esti’s homemade savoury and sweet pastries and a selection of gourmet beers, aptly named after Possum Valley residents. A huge thank you to Treehouse Brewery for supplying the four amazing tap beers and elderflower kombucha which was very popular.

Dancing, games and the merchandise table kept the crowds busy in between eating and drinking the German fare on offer.

A huge thank you to all those who volunteered, donated and attended – all funds raised go directly to supporting over forty sheep who call the Valley home.

Curtin Volunteers Visit the Valley

By Chris R.

This year we were fortunate to be selected to host volunteers from Curtin volunteer groups for two days, as part of John Curtin Weekend.  On Saturday the 16th and the 30th of September, we were joined by a fantastic group of students and their driver who worked at the Sanctuary and assisted us with some labour intensive and time consuming projects.

Projects included laying concrete slabs in animal enclosures to keep animals feet dry in rainy weather, removing spent hay from enclosures, weeding in readiness for the fire season and removing old fencing.

The students were very enthusiastic and interested in learning more about the Valley’s residents.

Following their hard work, the students enjoyed a vegan lunch in the barn followed by a Sanctuary tour where they heard the stories of the animals which their volunteering has assisted.

Thanks Curtin Volunteers – we look forward to seeing you again next year!

Goat Yoga at PVAS - Spring 2017

One of our most popular fundraisers in 2017 is Goat Yoga. We have held several sessions on weekends through the finer months. PVAS Goat Yoga also features our friendly lambs. Here are a selection of photographs taken at the Goat Yoga afternoon on 30 September 2017.

If you are interested in attending a session of Goat Yoga, bookings can be made via the PVAS Facebook page.

Spring Gourmet Lunch

By Chris R.

On Sunday the 10th of September we held a small fundraising ‘Spring Gourmet Lunch’. The lunch for ten guests took place in the Valley and included a tour of the Sanctuary to meet our residents.

The main course of the lunch was made by Botanik Kitchen and kindly donated by Andrew Thompson. Culinary master Pete Blake provided the amazing entrees and desserts. The meal was also accompanied by a selection of vegan wines. We were fortunate to have a sunny yet cool day and the lunch was served under fairy lights in the Valley’s barn.

EntrĂ©e was a delicious mushroom potato topped pie, followed by a main of quinoa and thyme stuffed squash with a sweet potato puree and balsamic glazed brussel sprouts.  The highlight of the meal however was sticky date pudding with coconut ice cream, after which attendees had plenty of energy to tour the Sanctuary and engage with the animals.

We thank all those who assisted on the day, provided the delicious food and purchased tickets – funds raised were used to cover our ever present vet costs.

Possum Valley Animal Sanctuary High Tea

By Chris R.

On Saturday the 26th of August, Possum Valley held its first high tea at the University of Western Australia. We were excited to see a great turn out to the event.

The menu was diverse and delicious, featuring a selection of vegan gourmet savouries and sweets, served throughout the afternoon.

Attendees learned about the work done at the Sanctuary and enjoyed a slide show featuring many of the animal residents of the Valley. An amazing selection of items were also for sale at our merchandise stall and available for auction on the silent auction tables.

Thank you to all who supported the event through the purchase of tickets and the donation of auction items.
