By Chris R.
This year we were
fortunate to be selected to host volunteers from Curtin volunteer
groups for two days, as part of John Curtin Weekend. On Saturday the 16th and the 30th of
September, we were joined by a fantastic group of students and their driver who worked at the Sanctuary and assisted us with some labour intensive and time consuming
projects.
Projects included
laying concrete slabs in animal enclosures to keep animals feet dry in rainy
weather, removing spent hay from enclosures, weeding in readiness for the fire
season and removing old fencing.
The students were very
enthusiastic and interested in learning more about the
Valley’s residents.
Following their hard
work, the students enjoyed a vegan lunch in the barn followed by a
Sanctuary tour where they heard the stories of the animals which
their volunteering has assisted.
Thanks Curtin
Volunteers – we look forward to seeing you again next year!
